So I was saying.. (cough)
- Cut it
- Okay Take 2 Action!
- So I was saying that Movie pro…(forgot)
- Cut it
- Sorry sir I will do it
- Okay Take 22
- So I I was
- Cut! “Said ‘I’ twice.. Why the hell are you forgetting such simple dialogues? This is what happens when you don’t rehearse. These wannabes superstar…”
This is what Film industry may have to offer for you. There are two words of some rap which are being played on repeat in my mind. I don’t know the exact lyrics or who the rapper is but let me share those two magical words – ‘Glitz and the Glamour.’ While talking about the industry of stars and legends, they have really well summed up the On screen life (appearance) of Different characters. But is Film industry all about Glamour, beautiful Heroines and young, mighty, handsome guys? Or is there a story behind the story that we see on screen?
Yes! It is way bigger and widespread field of work in comparison to what we see or think of. We judge the 2-3 hrs movie in minutes but we never look at the hard work being put in behind the Camera. The Director, writers, editors, stuntmen, camera crew, etc etc. They are rarely noticed by the public. Mostly only those people who are associated with Film Industry know about the identity of these people. Apart from that, the glam and the fashion is highly promoted in movies that show up on big screen these days but fact is, even acting is a job with lot of sweat to be shed on floor.
It was a usual day for me. I had just completed my 10+2 so I was enjoying the beautiful period of vacations but then my mobile rings and there is a message from Harjap that he was taking part in ‘Sikhnet Youth Film Festival’ and needed my help to build up a story on the theme ‘Uncommon Courage’ I took it lightly and agreed to write the story as well as script for this movie.
We named it ‘Kada-The Gesture of Obeisance’ once I finished the script. We held 5 meetings just to make sure there weren’t any loopholes in the script or story of the film. Then came the camerawork and acting. Oh Gosh! We had to work under complete bright sunlight for two consecutive days. I played the lead role as Sage and within two days of my life, I realized that acting isn’t just about being on screen and looking handsome. It is way more than that. By the time we finished taking shots on the second day, my body felt like it was fully broken into pieces and my head, It ached like never before. I was fully in sweat so I took the shower immediately.
I can’t describe the difficulties in editing, VFX & Music part of the film because I am not directly associated to these fields but I did saw Harjap work day in and day out. There were numerous days when we did not eat or sleep throughout the day but somehow we did it! A 16 and 20 year old made the movie which was beyond their expectations. We jumped and hugged each other like anything. Trust me when I say, our jumps were higher than those of girls after watching a lizard or cockroach.
I would like to convey a message to those who are trying to establish themselves in this field. Work hard. Taste droplets of sweat… There is no shortcut to success. Lastly I am happy that we have made a movie that will incline Sikh people towards their religion. At the same time, if you are interested in helping us win the competition. Let us know via Comments. Thanks!
